Hi everyone! My name is Isabella, I’m Ketner Group’s newest public relations intern, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team!
I’m currently studying Journalism and International Relations at UT Austin, and naturally, as a journalism major, I love to tell stories. So let me go ahead and tell you mine.
An Avid Reader to an Avid Writer
Since childhood, reading has been one of my biggest passions. Being an only child, I kept myself occupied with the fantastical adventures I read through stories (Percy Jackson and Warrior Cats were some of my favorites!), and you’d seldom find me without my nose in a book.
My love for reading evolved into a knack for writing. I loved deconstructing the words I found amongst the pages and applying them to my own craft. And eventually, I landed in the world of journalism when I entered college.
But as my journey at UT Austin progressed, I realized that writing is a crucial basis for so many industries beyond journalism. Besides my experience in student reporting, I’ve written for film projects, completed bilingual advertising internships and did marketing for UT’s international student office.
What Drew Me to Ketner Group
Exploring writing beyond journalism is exactly what led me to Ketner Group. Ketner not only allows me to explore a new field of communications work, in which I can apply my writing expertise, but it’s also a space where I can learn new skills related to all things PR.
Internships are always about learning new skills and improving upon old ones, and with Ketner, there’s truly never a dull moment. With Ketner Group’s retail tech specialization, I’m learning something fascinating about the intersection of technology and business every day.
And I know I couldn’t be in better hands than with the team at Ketner Group. Working with a tight-knit group means I have more opportunities to ask questions, more chances to get involved and a supportive environment to grow and learn. It’s apparent that everyone at Ketner is truly passionate about what they do, and they don’t hesitate to welcome your introduction to the industry with open arms.
Always Learning New Things
Besides learning new things at work, I also love learning new languages as my hobby. My other area of study is international relations, and I’ve been studying Japanese for around three and a half years now—I even studied abroad in Japan last summer!

The Japanese heat was pretty unbearable (even as a native Texan!), but I’ll never forget the summer nights during which I stuffed my face with fruit-flavored shaved ice and lit fireworks across the ocean shore with friends.
Studying abroad was a wonderful opportunity that allowed me to gain further insights into Japanese culture and language. I improved my speaking skills immensely, and now I’m off to learn more languages! I’ve decided my next big project is learning French.
Continuing my journey of learning new things, I can’t wait to dive head-first into the world of PR and retail tech with a kind-hearted, hard-working and truly awesome team!
